"Prolo-Shock" is a regenerative medicine procedure developed by an osteopathic regenerative medicine physician/prolotherapist that uses Shockwave Prolotherapy in combination with traditional injection prolotherapy and ultrasound/palpation guided PRP injections to stimulate healing and strengthening of connective tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and fascia to reduce pain, stabilize joints, and improve function.
This a non-invasive regenerative medicine procedure using Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) as the stimulus to regenerate damaged soft tissues using the foundational principles and techniques of traditional injection prolotherapy. The strengthening of connective tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and fascia helps to reduce musculoskeletal pain, stabilize joints, and improve performance and function.
Shockwave has the advantage of being completely non-invasive with no needles and is therefore a great option for those who do not want to receive injections with PRP or dextrose prolotherapy procedures.
Shockwave prolotherapy can be used very effectively (with 80-90% or greater positive results) in healthy patients who have the ability to mount a strong healing response.
This a minimally invasive regenerative medicine procedure that uses a very small needle to inject a solution (proliferant) mixed with an anesthetic into damaged connective tissue structures or joints to stimulate the body's natural healing and regenerative processes. This results in strengthening of connective tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and fascia and can help reduce pain and improve function.
We can address a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Please request our "Musculoskeletal Service" handout for more information.
We commonly manage conditions associated with joint pain and lower back pain with prolotherapy procedures.
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a hands-on approach to diagnosing, treating, and preventing illness or injury. It involves manipulation of the musculoskeletal system to improve the body's natural healing abilities.
